45 thoughts on “Saving Money w/ DIY Grow Equipment (Part 2) – From The Stash Podcast Ep. 123

  1. I love DIY and that paired with programming/electronics passion I made my own temperature/humidity/vpd monitor and humidifier/dehumidifier/lights/fans controller with an ESP32. I can monitor and tweak everything, plus a custom grow diary, all in one spot in a webapp. Big money saved, works very well and was a cool project to build!

  2. The only thing I bring to my farm is seeds. Everything else comes from the farm itself…Chicken manure, egg shells, clover, alfalfa and plantain for cover crop and FPJ…..

  3. Constructive criticism, I appreciate the time and effort. It took to try to incorporate the assuming in and out feature. But just being honest here it doesn't work. And the 3 of you in the same frame is much more visually appealing "In the straightest way possible 😆 "

  4. Great info. I’ve recently allowed 4 different girls to sit in darkness in dry section 60/60 approx. for 10 days , everything was not only great but so much easier to remove remaining foliage and go straight to Herbs now or Grove Bag. Thanks!

  5. Made a water reservoir with a plastic tote a pond pump and a water filter. Water comes from ac unit drips down a tube into reservoir. I also pre fill it. Pump turned on when I need water I ph It often works good. working on getting inferred in there to keep water cleaner.

  6. I use 16 qt totes. They work out to 4 gallons. Menard's 5 gallon buckets break apart easy. I know someone that uses old socks for their wick system. I use x2 2.5×5 white washed sheets of osb, x2 2×6, and black plastic for a flower tent. All left over free materials from work. I just run a rectangular dual window fan. I use an old bath tub on blocks for my worm bed. I use the worm piss aka worm leachate in my garden.

  7. To use soil out of your yard bake it in the oven on 200-250 in a metal bucket for a few hours until it’s baked through uniform temp, stir it up make sure it’s all steamed you won’t have any bugs

  8. I like to exhaust all other options and attempt to find different techniques and alternatives for everything before I’ll spend any money, I can’t waste money on something I don’t absolutely need

  9. I tested my worm 🪱 pee and took my blue lab ph and ppm meter and couldn't believe how ph was 6.2 and the ppm was 1200 and all that I feed them is nothing but fruit and vegetables

  10. Making your own dirt by adding to my old soils I'll go out to this old camp ground and look for old rooting wood to add to my soils and it's truly been almost the best worm raising soil for them

  11. With frozen towels you get the benefit of heat absorption via evaporation.
Frozen water bottles would require more heat to cool by boosting the mass, but you do not get evaporative cooling.

  12. shout out to from the stash, you 3 are amazing for the community you guys have been my mystery mentors for the longest time now my growing has gone from basic to great over the years with all of the knowledge you guys offer

  13. The one drawback of auromated watering is youre spending less time looking at your plants. The more you observe, the sooner you can meet issues head on. All hell can break loose in a week with pests or pm. Other than that its a godsend.

  14. Anyone watching this in needham mass you do it electronic has everything you need led’s fans etc yes the zooming is two harsh I don’t mind the switching zooming needs to be more gentle but I am listening threw my raycons yes chill tec rocks on dat

  15. I collect kelp from the shoreline dry it and grind it into powder an mix with my soil.collect oyster shells for calcium .powder again .have compost bins and couple of worm bins for castings .also add fish carcasses into soil .no sense of smell so no issue . Bitta knf and plants just love it reuse my soil .Yes i am a miserable bastard .big love Belfast
