  1. Yakusa today is pretty much its last legs and there’s a certain power vacuum in the underground businesses in japan. I noticed a rise in “Gurentai” and triads specially in kyushu.

  2. You're mistaken, man. They weren't being "honourable". A family in that clan saw an opportunity to legitimise selling movies and they took that opportunity. Legitimising untimely means more income, no concern for money laundering and no concern for law enforcement shutting down your operation. And respectfully, lol; You're a white guy. In their eyes you're a foreigner who can pose a risk if you're killed. We've seen time and time again with what happens to folks killed in foreign countries. i.e global news, law enforcement from the other country coming down on said law enforcements ass for any smidge of evidence, suspects etc.

Let's not praise them for helping in the earthquake incident. It was merely done to promote a better image of them, and likely also done for recruitment. News coverage of an incident will in turn have young men being interested in joining, along with them said civilians liking you more. No criminal based organisation is going to do something like that unless they want to get something out of it. Just how a corporation wouldn't do a good deed unless they get something out of it. Sure, what they did was good, but it for sure had a ill intention aspect folks are blind to see.

  3. …so, you tell us a story about teaching the yakuza to respect copyright, but then you use photographs of yakuza without giving credit to the photographers? Did you license these photographs? Some of the photos shown were taken by Anton Kusters wh spent years gaining the trust of the yakuza.

  4. I was a victim of the 1995 earthquake in Kobe, I was stuck for a while under the rubble of my house. I later ended up in a shelter and Yakuzas came out from everywhere and helped everyone with food and water and many other things. So what he says in the video is true, the Yakazas helped a lot after the earthquake.

  5. In japan they call/called the yakuza "the necessary evil", they let them be gangsters so they can control the streets and their wont be any reckless criminals running around doing crazy things cos the yakuza will punish them, unlike in the uk and us where we hunt down organised crime and lock them away for life then all the young kids have to fill the void and there is nobody controlling them or giving them rules and morales so they run around senselessly stabbing and shooting and robbing everyone

  6. Just to add that 9999 plates are also common in that "segment". Funny story regarding plates here in Japan… Last year I got another car, and since my current car and plates got a bit too… Familiar around the place (if you know what I mean) I was hoping I will get the most scrambled, random, as hard to remember as possible plates… Whole way to "DMV" to change the title and plates, I'm saying to my wife "I really hope the plates are super "random" and scrambled. I am also the one that usually ridicules people that specifically order those custom, easy to remember plates. So I do the procedures, they call me up, hand me over the plates and I'm just staring at it, looking for hidden camera or some shit. My wife is like "what"? I'm like… Do you see the plates they gave me? Turn the plates around and show it to her… 9999…. She was even more shocked than me, especially since I was rumbling for days about how I want "lowkey" plates. To make matters worse, car is a all blacked out Lexus lol. It's a Lexus IS-F though, so not the most Yakuza Lexus model but to untrained eye….

Nowdays though, such plates are super common and you can see them on all sorts of shitboxes that have nothing to do with Yakuza. People just think it's "cool" so they custom order them.

  7. I grew up in Kyoto and every year the local Yakuza would host a kids festival. They would set up food stands and games and all of the kids got tokens to play the games for free and get prizes like snacks and toys. It was mostly manned by younger guys that haven’t officially made it into the Yakuza yet and all of them were the most polite and friendly people at the festival, I’m sure they were always like that lol.

  8. I think its universal that no matter where you are in the world, if you see a black Mercedes Benz that's blacked out tint wise….you safely bet somebody in there probably is involved in something your mother wouldn't approve of lol
