  1. I was a young girl at a tri county speedway raceway, and a car tumbled up and unto a spectator fence, onto a speaker, flipped back the speaker into the crowd and killed one, injured many. What a spectator didn't expect that day was to die, watching a race. 😢😮

  2. It was an Austin Healey that avoided the Jag and the Merc used it as a ramp. Also, parts of the car went through the crowd, not the entire car. Still a very deadly accident.

  3. I believe this was also the beginning of the use of magnesium in cars to save weight. So when water was applied to the fire in the crowd it just accelerated…

  4. This is a pretty tame retelling. From some accounts, an axle came off the Mercedes and was cleaving heads. It is an absolutely horrific tale, and is pretty much the reason why safety in motorsport is taken so seriously.

  5. Imagine being in the car and just watching all those people get flat lined I imagine it to be like that one part of invincible where omni-man holds Marc face first into a train full of people.

  6. not just Mercedes used brakes for saving weight, it was mostly because English invented disc brakes, and Germans didn't wanted to use a British invention on their car out of pride after the war.
