40 thoughts on “Harassed For Going UNDER The Speed Limit

  1. "Am I free to go?" should be your mantra here..

When an officer askes general questions, respond with general answers:

    "Where are you going?"
    To another place.

"Is there anything in your car I should be aware of?"
Can you show me a list of things you should be aware of?

Always record, as there may be repercussions if you bruise an officers weak ego.

  2. When I drive alone, I have my messenger bag in the passenger seat. Am I now a criminal? Oh wait, I'm the right color so probably not. A case of straight up racism in this one.

  3. See I will disagree with this rating for one simple line I’m not entirely sure was picked up given the grades at hand:

He was basically told that if he had not been given consent, he would have to stand outside the car in the cold OR sit in the back of a patrol car, and this caused him to give consent, not the drug sniffing dog itself.

I feel like this was overlooked as a minor line when in fact this greatly impacted the decision to consent to his search, this was a threat. Sitting in the back of the patrol car could, for all we know given how on the spot this was, have been a great fear for him and likewise could have played into any body cam footage from either officer if twisted into some specific prosecutor angled story, and standing out in the cold with only a hoodie and sweats and not proper winter clothing would be torture on its own.

Also to be clear the back of the patrol car on its own was still a horrible offer, as the windows would be rolled down to expose him to the cold air regardless, thought to point this out.

I would at least revise the grade to F and A- respectively, though this is just me. The officer either knowingly, or was too dim witted to realize, forced his hand in order to get consent given the desperate weather circumstances.

  4. "I'm not going to write you a ticket"… Conversation over. He is free to leave. Let the officer know there is no consentual contact and attempt to leave.

  5. Im 2 seconds in and based on the title alone – GOOD! About damn time someone gets pulled over for going under the limit. Also, do some left lane cruisers as well. 90% of road rage incidents would be eliminated if careless people followed the law of not cruising in the left lane and getting over for faster drivers

  6. I normally would never suggest volunterily letting the cops search ur car. But when they threatened the K9 search it might be the best option. K9's can be taught to react from certain commands form cops. Also they are only about 85% accurate. False alerts are pretty common. Then they would have torn his car up.

  7. For those of you who get mad at his grading scale.

You don't understand his grading scale. C- isn't a pass. Anything under an A- is a fail. B+ – F is simply the severity of the failure. If "F" was the only failure, everyone would get an "F" and there would be no distinction between how badly someone fails. Someone who get a C- simply isn't as bad as someone who gets an F.

In the world of violence grading, there is a difference between slapping someone in the face and stabbing them in the shoulder, and slicing their throat open. Tha face slap fails with a B-, the shoulder stab fails with a D-, and the throat slash gets an F.

Truthfully ATA would do better with a scale of 1 – 10. A "grade" confuses a lot of you as you're used to a "C" being a "passing grade". When ATA gives a "C-", I know the cop failed. When a citizen gets a B+, that is also a failure. The failure being giving the tyrant permission to search the car.
