19. Don't take your vehicle to pep boys. They will find or create something. Wife's car engine replaced. It wasn't running smooth or completely not starting. "Regular" pep boys oil changes. Old engine was found with clogged up ports from old oil sludge. Hmmmm. Just had another tie rod replacement because she "felt" something not quite right. When she shows up at their store, they say cha ching.

    I once bought a 351 Windsor for a project i was working on,351 engines were used a lot on fleet cars, work trucks and things of that nature that saw a lot of hard miles and no maintenance, i was warned that it had "spun a bearing", since i was going to put a new crank and everything else i didn't really care,it was a complete engine including a boat anchor lower intake.

    As any seasoned veteran knows these engines like most other V8s have a generous valley where the pushrods and lifters are located, when i pulled that lower intake off there was a wall of sludge all the way to the top,getting to the bottom of the "V" was the equivalent of a archeological dig,i took pictures of it on a old phone that i have somewhere, it was quite impressive and yes one of the bearings had spun badly, i wonder why? lol
