0:00 Intro
0:05 Ford Explorer. The vehicle overheated and they kept driving. Which most likely damaged the head gaskets, cylinder heads, and engine block, since they kept driving for so long (the customer did not want it diagnosed once they were told it was most likely engine damage). What you see in the clip is exhaust gases coming out radiator where the radiator goes on.
0:19 Whoever replaced the CV axle boot, never installed the bolt for the lower ball joint or left it loose and it backed out. Which caused the lower ball joint to pop out of the spindle, and caused the lower control arm to grind on the inside of the wheel. They aren’t sure who actually did the work (customer or another shop).
0:27 No extra info. The work order is shown on the top right.
0:42 Most likely the customer hit something as all the tires are extremely bald and it’s winter and their snow on the ground. When they hit something they bent the lower control arm and popped the driver’s side front tire. All 4 tires should definitely be replaced.
1:02 Whoever repaired the tire for the customer left some tools inside the tire. You can hear the conversation between the customer and the mechanic.
1:15 They think the electrical tape was done by the customer, as they don’t think any shop would ever do this. A new line got installed.
1:25 The technician said he’s not sure why the customer did this as they were all pre-bent OEM lines that he installed. However, the shop made its own brake lines, installed them, and bled the brake system.
1:35 They said they could barely sit in the vehicle as there was so much dog hair just floating around and it made it hard to breathe. They had to take it for a test drive as well.
1:45 The technician cleaned/lubricated the window tracks.
1:54 The technician’s boss called the police department as they had no clue who the bullets and mag belonged to and it wasn’t the owners.
2:05 No extra info.
2:17 The technician said the insurance company came by and said the vehicle is a write-off (after the recall was done). The customer was too late to get the anti-theft software update completed as it’s a huge issue for certain Hyundai models to get stolen.
2:30 The sign was removed and the customer did not mention anything about it.
2:41 No extra info.
2:51 ECM/PCM hanging down rubbing against the fan and close to exhausting. Should be up and close to the battery box. This could result in an expensive if not fixed.
2:58 The customer left the black cap on the battery terminal and installed the battery cable upside down (the terminal end is upside down).
3:06 LS swapped Dodge Caravan. Check out his channel @ https://www.youtube.com/@StationroadRatrods
3:13 Outro. Thanks for watching!

36 thoughts on “Customer States Vehicle Overheated And They Kept Driving | Just Rolled In

  1. I love how they said it overheated then stated "I kept going" I bet the conversation went like
    IC- "Hey my car overheated"
M- "okay did you pull over"
    IC- "nah I kept going"
M- "you probably damaged the motor by doing that"
IC- " your telling me that driving with a overheated engine causes damage"
    M- "yes"
IC- "I don't believe it I'm getting it towed to my buddy's mechanic shop wholl fix it for cheap"

  2. So much for MY theory of mechanics when things go wrong … just keep on keeping on and hope it resolves naturally. Rarely works! Tho reminds me of a old Subaru hatchback in the 80s, running into town from the mountains when suddenly the car began BANGING/THUDDING really loud. Began to slow, heard loud snap and watched my front CV joint… with a bit of broken shaft attached, go flying past, flaming bright. Front wheel drive. Way out past help I couldn't afford anyway. Sat there for a few minutes then idea struck, pulled the handle back into 4WD and rolled fine as 3WD for next year. Tough machines!

  3. One of the reasons I always have a competent mechanic work on my car is that every time I hear a horror story, the words "I tried to fix it myself" or "I had another shop do it for way less money" feature prominently in the story. Still, competent workers can still miss stuff… for example:

Back in 2005, my car got hit pretty bad on the driver's side. It needed a lot of body work. Since then, I had always had problems with the driver's window, which I had had looked at several times when I took my car in for other issues. The problems were usually resolved, but only for a short period of time. Another problem since that accident was that the door handle on the driver's door was prone to breaking every 5 years or so. After having the door handle replaced twice, I decided to order a handle and replace it myself. One of the steps to replacing the door handle is to remove the window guide… and that was when I found out that the window guide had not been replaced back in 2005. It was still lying inside the door at the bottom, deformed from the accident, and my window had been going up and down with no guide for 16 years. This was why I was constantly having window issues, and it was also the reason my door handles were failing more often than normal, as they could occasionally catch on the out-of-place window, putting more stress on it that they were meant to take. Well, I found a replacement window guide, installed it, installed the door handle, and things have been peachy ever since. I'm just wondering how long it will be before some mechanic has to look inside my door and ends up sending in a video into this channel with commentary "Customer states he replaced the window guide and door handle himself…"

  4. That first part sounds a AWEFUL LOT LIKE MY OLD LAST ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER when I worked at Staples a lifetime ago as a young man. Sheesh lol
His truck tanked, heat gauge pegged. Kept Fing driving cuz OH LORD GIVE YOUR SOUL TO YOUR JOB. What a foop.

  5. Damn do some of these vehicles make my truck look clean. I mean, you can't use the back bench and sometimes I leave things on the passengers seat. But that's easy to clean off, you can see the floor in the front and I don't have trash, bugs, or gunk everywhere.

  6. I get concerned when my temp gauge goes past 200F, not that guy though. Keeps driving even though you will crack your engine block.

You gotta turn your heat on full blast, roll down all the windows and pull over, shut off the car but leave the ACC (accessory key/push button position) on so you can keep the blower motor push the heat away from the engine.

If you can't figure out what the issue is (low coolant usually), leaking coolant/water pump is out, or something obstructing the cooling fans on the radiator get a tow.

  7. if i see this shit there‘s no wonder that mecanics scam their customers. i would do the same damn thing if i see someone that stupid

  9. How does an ecm just randomly hang like that. Someone definitely had to removed the mounting bolts. That's just straight up laziness.

  10. Owners of rolling dumpsters should be paraded around town in the stocks so the public may throw rotten produce at them.
