1. As adults we know when we are too plastered to drive. She drove anyways. There is Uber etc. When you know your going to drink you make sure you have a ride or you don’t drink!

10. We do have "no service" laws here in the state of Washington. I wonder if those same laws exist up in Canada and if they do then it sounds like the servers of her provisions could be in an actionable position. I'd say she should've taken care of her own damn self but these laws are in place for the public inside as well as outside the place of service so if any of them were negligent then I'm going with the law and I think they'll determine very quickly just who is to be made to pay.

16. Everybody needs to familiarize themselves with dram shop laws before chiming in. In the service profession, when alcohol is involved all persons, serving said alcohol, are liable should they over-serve a customer because some people cannot be counted on to drink responsibly, and not all people arrive with a designated driver. Should she have known better? Yes, but some people just suck at adulting and that needs to be taken into account.

    There are laws here in the states that prohibit bar tenders for serving intoxicated patrons – so it’s not THAT outrageous. These law suits are more common than you might think. As your bartender.

21. I commend this woman these bars and clubs are at fault over-serving patrons which I think if a person gets a DUI The Establishment serving alcohol should be liable. Where I live in Pennsylvania you have all kinds of alcoholics and a lot of these clubs are mob owned which they paid off the state to be left alone. I wish that they could do something like this in the United States. Not to mention these people should charge regular prices for alcohol not five or $10 for Pabst Blue ribbon one can! This woman needs to get her life back and Marilyn Manson is not being sued not even the promoter because they're not involved in this.

28. In ON, the bar or venue that has overserved is responsible for that person (used to bartend at UofT, mid 2000's), for this exact reason. You aren't supposed to overserve, but if it happens, you can make sure they have sober friends, a pickup, pay for their cab (even then, you don't know what they'll do after the cab). Interesting situation to watch!

37. This is sadly the mentality that is becoming more and more prevalent in modern society. They made a choice and did something which they knew was dumb, dangerous and illegal. BUT it's everybody's fault but mine! I didn't know the venue kicked her out so that's even more so. They DID do their job. Whether they should have done it earlier is debatable. I've been to dozens of festivals and concerts and there's always a ton of people who just get trashed. Be a responsible adult and stop doing dumb shit (coming from a person who's done a LOT of dumb shit!) I hope this gets thrown out and this idiot has to face her music.
