  1. I think she said monster trucks cause it’s tough and rough like heavy metal is. I don’t think she means it’s low class at all but still it was very ignorant of her to express herself that way just to get a couple of laughs.

  2. I can explain this, as an Australian this is two worlds meeting or colliding.
Cate Blanchette is upper class & posh. Cate is like a Manhattan, upper east side, opera box seat kinda gal. You get the picture.
Margot Robbie is not from the city she's not upper class. Margot is a country girl she grew up riding dirt bikes and listening to heavy metal. They're just polar opposites in where they come from but still both great actresses.

  3. To play devil's advocate, Cate was probably reacting to the fact that Margot sort of made it seem like a "phase" she went through. Seemed like Cate was asking if people genuinely enjoy the music or if it is just one of those things that edgy teens go through. I didn't see anything wrong with it. And comparing monster trucks to metal is pretty metal

  4. I went to a monster truck show …. It was cool … but some bad stuff happened .
1 a pissy slobbish trashy family planted their kids in front of me – blocking me. They clearly felt threatened.
2 a guy pretty much jizzed himself over a petrol fueld toy car – like he doesn’t get out much.
3 a kid was set on fire while “through the fire and the flames” played ( but that was a highlight) i hope the kid is ok … it was a bit ominous.
4They had trucks themed with scoobydoo and bat man – that was cool.
I wont forget that night .

  5. Ok well first off monster trucks and heavy metal actually go great together but at the same time monster trucks have nothing to do with heavy metal she needs to grow up and stop being so judgemental over something she differs from. Everyone has their own taste in everything and since when did liking heavy metal become a crime. I listen to rap r&b country pop and on the occasion heavy metal. And being that slipknot is actually one of the few heavy metal bands I listen to psychosocial being one of my favorites.

  6. Certain friends of mine love the music but always try to hide it in public for fear of embarrassment or something, I got this reaction from just such a friend at his 40th on the weekend when around midnight I suggested let’s pick things up and get some Metal on the wireless only to get a negative response that there’s still too many normies around, I’ve always found it strange and a little disappointing that some people have to hide their fandom

  7. Its funny how people who love "angry" music are often some of the most fun & friendly people around.
While people who love "happy" music are often some of the most conceited & judgmental asshats around.
Obviously not all, I enjoy some pop music myself. But it does seem to be the trend.
It'll be because she's a woman also. Only greasy angry loser men like metal right lol.

  8. it's very weird to see ppl hating on cate blanchett, she's just old and trying to understand. the monster truck comment maybe stems from the media bcs when i was young every scene from a tv show about monster trucks always has a heavy metal background music. i think that's why she acted that way.
