  1. Diamonds 2 rust makes me always think of my hotrods rusting away an too broke to fix them up ,as I think of another whiskey drinking woman will make a broke man

  2. Thank you, Mr Halford!
I've been sober for 1 year, and I wouldn't say that I "battle" alcoholism, but it's still hanging over me. When someone of your stature has been blessed with 37 years, I know that my own 5 year chip is just waiting for me down the road. And so on, and so on…
    Again,
    Thank you,
    Matt

  3. 2 weeks sober. Feels good on the body n mind. I'm on the path. Walking my dogs, join planet fitness, guitar practice daily, working.. Gota stay busy and have lots of Mountain Dew so far. PS..Rob Halford 🤟😎👍

  4. AWESOME, AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm in recovery and a proud member of AA. By the grace of God, AA and one day at a time…. I'll celebrate 5yrs in May!!! I've been a fan of JP and ROB HALFORD for a very long time and honestly had no idea that he was sober, or in the program?!! AMAZING In life you get…"SICK AND TIRED of being SICK AND TIRED!"

  5. These kind of stories are cool, I guess. Good on Rob. I personally quit crystal meth 19 years ago and have maintained that resolution with no relapses in the intervening years. I accepted that no one gives a shit about my victory over nearly impossible odds, and that's fine because I did it for myself and I'm still proud of my younger self for having an iron spine enough to commit and follow through. Total sobriety will never be my thing because I enjoy wine, cognac, and cannabis edibles far too much to ever stop. Conversely there was no joy in speed or cigarettes for me, so they had to go. Enjoy life, and do what thou wilt. 🤘

  6. To really test himself and his amazing powers of sobriety he should have a drink, the real test of strength is doing what you're afraid of not hiding from it, have a couple of drinks then leave it, that's the real victory

  7. I love your audio books, I would like to see you do another audio book….one where you tell us inside stories about recording …every….single….song from each album….little insights into the writing, the recording, the day in the studio….all songs, b-sides and unreleased stuff from judas priest, fight ,halford and two…KISS did it some years back and it was an awesome read. I for instance would love to hear a little back story on writing/recording "before the dawn". I dont think you have recorded a ballad as beautiful as that since…..I hope one day you do it in concert diamonds and rust acoustic style.

  8. That was awesome to hear…. Rob has 10 years on me but as he pointed out its always a day at a time. Never get complacent and stay grateful is my advice… even our shit days are golden in comparison to our bad old days/ways. Remembering that helps me a lot. Halford is a boss imho and a great ambassador for sobriety!

  9. In a listened to the Preist since childhood and I've had a drug addiction since that same time.
I am still struggling to this day and I wish I could find the right measures to help me quit but I keep screwing up my opportunitys because I am having a very tough time and am not able to find any way to cope.
I am a self medicater and people make it out as if I am just suppose to stop without any support or assistance and it's hard to say but I just don't think I can do it alone.
Robs message was beautiful and to me this is a speacal time when I can look at a device and see one of my favorate singers/musicians give everyone a hint of hope, I could have never experienced this when I was younger.
It really makes me astonished that Rob would take the time to give a personal message to everyone and put himself out there for us all to have a moment with someone we have shared many years of entertainment with and I am lucky to be here to experience this and I will try not to waste this support in its own way.
I can do it it's just I have nothing and no one to give me anything or any kind of support.
It's kinda hard when you have no one, nothing and are lost I don't think people understand.
I've been using since I was 11 and I started with benzodiazepines and got to high does.
I don't know what to do but I gotta try and if I don't make it know that I loved all of you and I tried but failed.
I don't want to fail at this but I think maybe I am just saying that and deep inside I dont wanna stop, dear God I hope not because I don't want to be lost forever.
Be well and stay sober please this comes from the source you don't want or need drugs take it from a guy who's lots literally everyone and everything hes ever loved or had and am alone with nothing.
All my love and don't give up!!

  10. Congratulations Rob Halford on staying clean for 37 years! Because of that, you're still here with us cranking out some amazing heavy metal music! You conquered something that took down a lot of your peers, and that speaks a lot to your inner-strength and sheer will to survive and thrive. May anyone else struggling with addiction take inspiration from you to get sober. God bless!

  11. That was powerful and made me cry a lil. I celebrated 17 years sober on June 28th 2022. Its not easy and combined with mental health illness it definitely takes one day at a time. But it is so worth taking that first step! 🥰

  12. Sober since February 1 1991
God gave me February 1st because it's the shortest month to get a month lol
    True story
    I love Judas Priest,
One of my favorites since early 70's
    You know Breaking the Law
The Ripper , Victom of Changes, Sreaming for Vengeance album etc
CONGRATULATIONS ROBERT you are a great example of humility and honesty and inspiration to all.
You are part of my everyday Playlist for when I drive and especially 10-12 hours a week training
