It's wild how Ice Nine Kills got so popular in recent years, I remember opening for them way back in the day (around their 2nd album), small venue and everything, thought nothing of it.
currents, make them suffer, and invent animate are my fav upcoming bands out right now
So basically, to be successful in metalcore today you have to be as cringy and annoying as possible haha
The "Myspace days" were the greatest. I found sooo much grea music in those days. Its a shame of all of the small town bands that never made it past myspace, but absolutely slapped!
Look at bad omens now, accurate prediction
Talent always finds it way. The more talented the deathcore and metalcore bands have become the harder it is to write it off as. Screaming, noise, frantic etc. You will always have the small sub base bitchin about gone soft or whatever,. But doing things like INK. Spencer is like brandon urie on steroids. With way better hooks. I will always root for live instruments. Nice video man. Also no mention of Dance Gavin Dance.
Motionless In White is also a great metalcore band, Chris has great vocals and their new album has a shit ton of good songs
My problem with these statements is a) the bands used as examples for passing through the mainstream spotlight have all been around since the 2000s. You mentioned spirit box and although they're perceptively growing, their view count is pretty small compared to the average mainstream artist. compare that to the 2000s when 17 year olds could pull architects popularity overnight which added a certain magic to the genre that's just not there anymore. Plus the novelty of the experimentation back then is infinitely better over polish we hear now. Maybe Im getting older but I swear even if you're young go back and listen to iwrestledabearonce's of tdwp's break out albums and compare with artists now. They just seemed funner.
Your forgetting the Hatebreed (especially their older stuff) COLOSSAL (San Diego band) Merauder bands. That Drop B drop A Open chord chugging breakdowns few simple chords shit. Listen to the song Crosshairs (2011) by COLOSSAL. That’s what I’m talking about. That type of metalcore heavy metalcorw heavy hardcore
Maybe it was never gone actually. Sometimes I think metalcore didnt exactly die, but blended into so many other things that now we can’t recognize it as it was before. At the same time, metalcore is changing music. It changed metal very quickly, I think, like nu-metal did in the 90s. I see bands from another musical dimension, like Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation… producing their new albums, tuning their sounds, in a very metalcore-like approach. It feels like something is happening, but we’re not able to understand and label it yet
Metalcore? In my day we called it Hardcore Punk! Basically any band that you would see at Hellfest!!! Their was a few bands i liked but the one I always liked most was hatebreed!!! Was always more a heavy metal fan! However i do still own a copy of Hellfest i forget which year but it is a VHS! I think early 2000’s
Lorna Shore getting on the big BMTH was big for Deathcore.
There are tonnes of greatest metal bands around, I'd to see the continuity of Metalcore. I eagerly witness the trend that hooked with youngster's gobs. Cheers, mate!
all female metal singers like that redhead sound like my mom screaming at me. no thank you. nothing against them personally maybe guys without moms like her though.
Not even a single mention of Bullet for my Valentine? These guys have been on a roll since like 2006 and they never stopped. Ok, they had a shit record in 2013, but excluding that, they are a solid and consistent band. Latest record is amazing, they are very strong live performers and are a pretty big band that headlines festivals… I feel like they should be at least mentioned by name when talking about Metalcore.
Cradle and Ed Sheeran? Have to see this! xD
110% agree with everything in this video! Well done 👍🏻
I would LOVE for Finn to do a video about Nothing More. They’re not metal core, but I think they are something fresh and exciting in the rock scene. They’re my favorite
Hey Finn, did you know Courtney LaPlante used to do vocals for Iwrestledabearonce? I remember when she started with them, she was still very new. She has gotten WAY better at singing, that's for sure. Screams were always good.
Falling in Reverse originally copied Papa Roach but added some hip hop elements. Now Papa Roach had copied Falling in Reverse with their newer stuff. Those 2 bands are just a big circle jerk lmao.
BMTHs ok, I just liked them more when they were kmfdm
Some of the peeps loving that kind of music should really try a bit more the Japanese metal scene. There are quite a decent amount of bands that all worth a listening, all very talented, but from a country that try not really hard to get international exposure.
Bands worth a listening imo, NEMOPHILA & Unlucky Morpheous (for my taste) Many like Band Maid & Lovebites (I don't, but can't deny talent). There are many flavors over there, and to me at least I find their musicality more interesting than the western one. Funnily, when you read comments, you'll see comments from all over the world, meaning they appeal to a lot of various peeps too.
growing up with all that remains, as i lay dying, august burns red, parkway drive, killswitch engage, bring me the horizon, i still don’t see anything appealing in the recent vague of metalcore, but i hope things get interesting.
Well for Metal core-core so would i actually go with Chimaira
It took me two hours to watch this because I kept flipping back to Spotify to listen to these bands. What a ride!
What a great video Finn. Metalcore is definitely back and big down here in Australia.
BMTH hasn't been metalcore for years! They sold out hard and have been making garbage since sempiternal.
I’m 43, still listen to Metalcore. August Burns Red is still one of my favorites
Spiritbox, YES! Nice!
14:41 Knocked Loose seems more like a hardcore band that plays music that sounds more like deathcore than just metalcore
I’m 17 and I literally discover Metalcore like a year ago (it’s now my favourite genre thanks to BFMV and later Avenged Sevenfold and Bury Tomorrow), so I’m pretty sure I’m not the only teenager that is interested in Metalcore
it looks like you defenitely do not posess taste for good music………you literally like bad bands…………….blah blah blah youtuber…………….
