Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed this episode. The topic was actually picked by this year’s Charityland auction winner Craig Jessup! Hope everyone is well and have a great day!
the drawings were so lovely and full of soul, the life size puppets and costumes were sooooooooo ugly by contrast
I've never really connected to Dumbo, it was always this strange black sheep to me growing up, still is honestly. But this concept, an adult Dumbo pulling a wagon full of circus performers with stories in each town, most if not all of the performers being anthropomorphic animal characters, actually intrigues me, and if there's anything Disney needs to reboot – it's this. Either simply remaking the show with the same format, or making a film separate from the Tim Burton film and from the animated film and just letting it be its own thing. I'm always about travelling circus stories. I'd love to watch this original show and a reboot/remake.
I never knew Katie Lee was the voice of Dumbo! Though, I just hear early Connie Kendall. 😂
What a terrifying time for kids! 6:29
Watching this video was really wild to me – I have really distinct memories of watching this as a kid on the scant few times cable TV subscribers without premium cable packages (to The Disney Channel) were given one-week access to The Disney channel and I would wake up early and watch this. That opening song is exactly as I remember it. I was even maybe too old for the show when I got to watch The Disney Channel more regularly (as a house we caretook regularly had satellite) but I had a little sister, and I bet she remembers this as well.
It's so intresting listen to The Alice in Wonderland one, this, and Welcome To Pooh Corner back to back in that order
Okay Defunctland I'm Saying This Now. I Respect Your Patience And Voice Of These Vids. If I Had To Recreate This Video With My Own Voice I'd Probably Go On A Twelve Minute Rant About Sebastian. People Get On People Like You For Having A "Bland" Voice But Really It Isn't Bland, Just Trying Not To Overreact
Thank you for talking about Disney shows of my childhood. These episodes were pure nostalgia.
What really gets me- is the park did a retheme of Fantasyland (10 years ago) and they put the Dumbo in a circus area with games and so on. Not a once did they think to include characters from the TV show- despite it being the perfect opportunity for those characters to be included.
Omg i was obsessed w dumbos circus! I couldn't remember the name of it and finally found it and led me here. Thank u so much for all the nostalgia 💜🙏
Is there a name for when you watch a show you like and in 30 minutes another show you like will be on, but the show in the middle sucks but it’s the 90s so you don’t want to switch to another channel to look for something else so you just watch the bad show to pass the time? Yeah, that was Dumbo for me. I had completely forgotten about this show but as soon as I started watching this episode I realized I’d seen a lot of it. A lot of passive watching while I played with my toys or something because I remember never liking it lol.
Man, I'm so glad I've rediscovered this series. Lilli was the only thing about it I could remember (her being my first crush on a fictional character). A recent conversation lead me to do some Googling and 30 minutes later here I am, with a whole fountain of memories suddenly pouring out. ❤️
You think this and Pooh Corner inspired Jake and the Neverland Pirates, the Lion Guard, Alice's Wonderland Bakery, and all those other Disney Junior adaptations?
I use to love this show when I was little
Real talk I was singing this theme song last week. Never missed an episode.
This is giving me HUGE Mother Goose vibes! Anyone remember that? Defunctland, do you have a video on the Mother Goose volumes?
Omg I definitely watched this and forgot it
I’m perfectly okay with the feather nitpicking.
I wonder what would look like if Dumbo's circus got an animated series then we would've got timothy mouse, Mrs. Jumbo, and Casey Jr. in the series.
OMG! I REMEMBER this show! I found it creepy as helll!
I totally forgot all about this show until I watched this! I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid 😲
Could have sworn this was on Disney+ but I don't see it
Odd
I remember once seeing this listed on the TVGuide Channel but I didn't get to watch it for whatever reason
