3. Tbh, if America continued that research in the 60s and shared the tech with India, we would have taken from there (even if America does not want anything to do with Thorium). Yearly India burns vast amounts of forex reserves to purchase oil (hurting her own economy as well as the environment). A reasonably working Thorium plant at the right moment would have been a godsend.

15. I think its worth the effort to try the MSR technology since nowadays the materials are quite different from the ones available on 60s and 70s.
    How many times have we heard that maintaining some revolutionary technology is quite expensive only for the millionaires to waste millions of dollars on some crappy startup like theranos and wework? Or those same millionaries wasting their money to travel to space just to show off on their IG accounts?
    I know its their money and can spend it however they want, but cmon at least they could give it a shot on this technology that could make them even richer than never before and give themselves some good publicity since that's all they care.

16. Politics, Economics and Paranoia have dictated how America proceeded with Nuclear Development – Hiroshima & Nagasaki was America answer to Pearl Harbour attack. Surrender was declared in good time, but America said ‘we made it, invested in it, we have to test it’ !!

    Both the PWR & Thorium tech were available – PWR tech was already available albeit with some modification. Too much investment was put into Uranium Fuel to just develop Thorium to its full utility. Then you have fuel management, proliferation concerns and very little recycling – There are no excuses with the same development period as Fissile fuel has has – I dare say we would be where China is – its just plain old politics and shortsightedness – the disasters should tell you that by now. Its a fanatic religion ‘non believers are sinful and should be damned to hell.

    Ok talking serious – a lot of things could be said and have been said about China – but one thing is apparent ‘Carbon Foot Print’ ‘Human Rights’ but we haven’t we forgot something? – Innovators, Artists’ Patient and Powerful – They have the stamina the west do not!!!!

    Well done China for showing the rest of the world, that Politics, Economy, and Archaic world view does not always make the cut…

19. Its about time govts of the world had a long term n determined persistence view to serve the people….wirh tech the way it is now and with the abundance of knowledge….some of the obstacles with the thorium reactors can be overcome….

    Australia should take note, vast desserts which can have these thorium reactors…and with a smart teck nation like Australia plenty of thorium from our mining sector….aussies should pursue this idea

20. What you're talking about is molten salt reactor or breeder reactor. USA had experimental one in 70's it's still there just not going. Reactor design is what makes safety not what fuel you use.

21. Obama turned over to the CCP all of the costly American thorium research and closed down American thorium reactor studies. The result is that if we want a thorium reactor in the future, we will have to buy it from the CCP. This is all so sad. We had a working research reactor that ran for years. It was cheap and safe. So sad.
