0:05 Dodge Ram 1500. The lift arms were not placed correctly underneath the truck. As well the hydraulic lift is rather sketchy to use. I’m surprised some shops still use them.
0:15 The spring compressor was not tight enough when he was removing the nut to remove the strut. Fortunately, nobody or vehicles were injured.
0:27 Engine and transmission sitting on an old tire tipped over leaking out a ton of oil. That won’t be fun to clean!

0:47 The mechanic surprisingly did not have a concussion or injuries. He went to his local doctor’s office to get checked out and was fine.
1:05 “I cannot disclose the name of but they ended up splicing their cameras into the factory radio harness which is on the same network as the instrument cluster. Every time his camera requested a signal it would take down the network thus losing the instrument cluster.”
1:27 Whoever sold this truck to the customer is going to be in trouble. The customer bought it used from a dealership that was not a GM dealership so he brought it into this GM dealership as he thought it would be warranty.
1:47 “On the transits, the majority of them are/come with dual batteries which fit horizontally in that tray. The single battery models use the same size tray but Ford got really lazy on the transit so instead of remaking the battery box, they just give you 2 blocks of foam to “position” the battery properly. These foam pieces are often overlooked when a shop that doesn’t work on these vehicles changes the battery & mixes up or misplaces the blocks.”
2:09 Be aware of your surroundings when welding.
2:19 The lube tech did not close the valve to the oil drum when draining the old oil out of the drum. So when shop air was hooked up to the oil drum it went everywhere.
2:27 The power steering line was replaced by the other mechanic.
2:40 The technician didn’t disconnect the battery before working on this truck and saw sparks flying and fell on his back. He was okay.

3:35 Pay attention when you drill! There was water inside the cab of the truck that started to have a mildew smell over time.
3:49 All along that connector that was corroded was the issue. The customer’s vehicle most likely did not need an engine.
4:09 He’s not sure what the apprentice was thinking that he completely forgot to position the drain tray.
4:17 All the gear oil leaked out causing damage to the rear differential.
4:57 They are not sure who originally left the adapter compression tester in the spark plug hole but that was the issue the whole time!

5:48 Exhaust hoses are used in shops to vent the exhaust gases outside when running a vehicle in the shop.
5:57 This could have been really bad! He’s lucky it didn’t hit the glass door or fire extinguisher.
6:14 The technician said those differentials take a while to fully drain out, that’s why you still see around 100 ML drain out. It was not fully drained out by the other shop.

7:14 Pay attention at work and don’t look at your phone while lowering down a vehicle.
7:21 Diesel VW. The mechanic wanted to drain the oil out of the glow plug holes so the engine wouldn’t try and run away.
7:39 Blocks of wood to chalk the front wheels did not work.
7:48 Bumper, core support, r fender shoved into the door, fuel tank, fuel line, and rocker panels were damaged.

I’m glad I do most of my mechanical work myself I kno it gets dun right..
These are very entertaining, I did notice there are no 1970s vehicles in any of these. The modern cars really suck.

Hey sometimes I've gone to hit the horn in my car and forgot its in a different place then my truck so maybe they were just making it safer. I just wanna know how tf they did that!
This is why I do my own maintenance. A simple oil change could end up costing you a new engine because some bonehead somehow screwed up even this simple task.

8:17: That happened to my wife's auto. She kept complaining of thumping and took it back to the shop that did the brakes. They said she needed a new front axle (79 Ford Fiesta). For some reason (I did not have any auto repair experience then), I checked the lug nuts. Yep, they were finger-tight. She was a teacher and drove 45 miles one way to school. After that scary episode, I bought a Chilton's book, and lots of tools, and I learned how to make most of my repairs.

I picked up my Toyota from the dealer after repairs and I heard a rattle when I started it. I got the service writer and we found a a ratchet and socket on the engine. He had a wickedly satisfied look on the face and said he was going to give the mechanic shat about it.
I have always done all repairs on my vehicles. I would never take it to a bunch of shit heads.
Its always aftermarket crap that does it. thats the first thing inspect if the customer said they had something aftermarket installed. Its always the aftermarket crap causing the problems and NO its not warranty
I also like the 4×4!!!! LMAO!!! I dont know how many times the customer brought their brand new vehicle in and say something isnt working and come to find out that something isnt a factory installed item and the sales person lied to them saying it has it

Since when did mechanics start disengaging their brains before working on vehicles ? I am sure if cars could fly and one mistake would make them fall out of the sky you would be a hell of a lot more professional and thoughtful in your work.If the mechanic was an ex aircraft technician then you could probably trust his work but the average car mechanic going by this content, no bloody way.Workshops need to up their game in professionalism, work quality , honesty and proper training to get back any form of trust from customers.Those that take pride in their work and treat every customers vehicle as if it were their own are now very thin on the ground.Every workshop should have their work checked or backed up by a service manager or experienced qualified technician before the customer gets the vehicle back.Theirs not enough accountability and if the rot is at the top don't go to that workshop ever.

Took my jeep to a local shop for a transmission rebuild, twenty miles later the driveshaft wrapped itself around the rear axle. No u bolt nuts had been installed. The shop refused to admit liability because in their words "they are a professional shop and would not have made a stupid mistake". It was a 90 day same as cash deal which I refused to pay and ended up with a ding on my credit for 7 years.

Fram products are well known for causing issues and the only decent product they make are air filters.
3:18 I have a Ram 3/4 ton diesel, and would not lift it on any import two post lift that wasn't rated for 12k. The front axle on a Ram diesel can easily approach 5k, which means a 10k lift is barely adequate, and that assumes its in good repair.

It’s so scary that a dealership mechanic or normal mechanic, people that should be treated as the surgeon of cars, is getting hundreds if not thousands of dollars per job, to sometimes ghetto rig, mess up and at times even destroy your car. Now taking your car to get fixed is a gamble. It either be done great or possibly destroy it all together
This is why I service all my vehicles myself. Fortunately I'm an old gearhead. It's saved thousands and allot of this stuff.

7:15 An incident identical to this happened in the bay directly next to me many years ago… when the truck fell it actually sent the screw jack airborne across the entire shop. Fortunately nobody was in its path and the only damage to the truck was a caved in gas tank.

This is exactly why I DIY everything that I can. “Professionals” are incentivized to cut corners, rush through jobs and be dishonest if it means saving a buck or being able to charge more. I’ve only been to 1 shop that I trust so I make the 45 minute trip back to my old town every time it’s something that I can’t fix myself.
