If people truly only add their close friends, don't want to see ads, and don't use the discovery page, how is this any different than having a group chat with friends where you occasially share photos of whatever you're doing? It just seems like a useless app for something actual groups of friends already do.

26. I love BeReal! See so many comments under here saying it gives people anxiety about their life looking too boring. That comes with every social media app though. Personally, I only have my closest circle of 3-4 friends on my BeReal. It's a good way to keep up with each other everyday. 99% of our posts are mundane everyday things but it's still a good way to keep in touch

29. I tried Facebook for a couple weeks back in my sophomore year of high school (so 2007 I think). It was nothing but people posting images stating “if you love Jesus you’ll send this to all your friends.” After that two weeks I had enough of religious chain mail and deleted the account.
    Since then the closest thing I’ve ever had to social media is YouTube, and even then I only created an account to not be stuck with kids videos.
