In this episode we take a look at the electrification of tow modes of transport beyond electric cars. The world’s largest electric plane from Sweden and a hydrofoil boat from Australia.

  1. 9:45. Changing from diesel to electric does not mean eliminating pollution. It just means you are moving it away from the vehicle, and over to the electric power plant. I expect it is LESS pollution, but it does not eliminate the pollution.

  2. Electric cars are crashing in sales and will soon virtually disappear because they are a logistical nightmare (charging), not commercially viable nor are they environmentally friendly, quite the opposite. So, they're out. No one in their right mind will get on a fully electric aircraft. Hybrid aircraft might eventually work out for short-hauls as noted. Who knows how watercraft will go? Small stuff, maybe. Ocean going large electric ships will never happen. The entire fossil fuel emissions scam is a money-grabbing hoax started nearly sixty years ago by a Canadian communist revolutionary named Maurice Strong, and none of this fairy-dust electric vehicle nonsense will make the slightest bit of difference to anything. Pursuing the development of electric vehicles on a large scale will itself cause massive environmental degradation and unsustainable mineral resource depletion in their manufacture. If you have even the slightest bit of an open mind on this subject, please watch this 80-minute video of the truth about climate change: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOAUsvVhgsU

  3. My brother, you should seriously stop converting units " so and so mile or so and so kilometers"…. No need. Everyone has a phone and can convert in their calculator app. Also, people in the US SHOULD start getting comfortable with the metric system anyway.

  4. We need to focus on synthetic fuels for aircrafts, our cities should have old style trams and open space for electric bikes, and I think electric cars are viable. The traditional train is still one of the best long distance mode of transports – and thats why I love trains.

I see a future of nuclear reactors or solar fields synthesising fuel with energy density greater than petroleum 🙏

  5. With 30 years in the airline industry flying multiple turboprops and jets, I would be very surprised if a complex aircraft like this ever becomes economically viable. First and foremost, Dispatch reliability…

  6. I've seen other news articles about the Heart X1 project. From my limited knowledge, I think they would be better served by using an internal generator to power 4 electric engines. The ideal candidate generator could be had from a company named Liquid Piston. Their generators are revolutionary in that they can run off any fuel, liquid or gas with simple adjustments, and they are roughly a quarter of the size of comparable generators. These units work so well that the US Army has adopted them to replace their 15,000KW units.

  7. Dear Dagogo can you tell what exactly is the percentage of electricity produced by burning fossil fuels, of course far away from electric boat harbours and glamour city centers ?😊

  8. Weakest Cold Fusion video ever! Feels like a plug. If this trend continues, I’ll unsub. I don’t need electric propaganda; we need more trains, bike lanes, better city planning and generally focus on pedestrians and public transport not this junk.

  9. Yeah great idea take the plane for 800km or less. I'm sure there is no alternative that is more climate friendly like I don't know… Buses or even TRAINS… This might be a good development to eventually get electrical long range planes, and maybe in certain areas like Alaska this might be useful. But otherwise I don't see it, sounds like a bad joke…

  10. Silly. How often are we getting this "breakthrough" announcments and they are brought by engineers of companys who need attention to survive. Forget flying with heavy batteries for a while and use trains -.

  11. It's cool to see progress, but the more I see of these things, the less I believe that it will ever be possible to have fully-electric intercontinental flights of large aircraft carrying hundreds of people. Even the "breakthroughs" are extremely short distance and carry few people. Without an actual major breakthrough (like 100x the density of power storage for the same cost, which may not be physically possible), implementations will remain niche. That said, even having a niche is better than nothing. Bu a niche does not in itself solve energy or environmental problems.

  12. These planes are dope for island nations or places like Alaska. But we all know trains are better in like the vast majority of places.

Well better for people and the environment, probably not for the stock market

I do want the boat though, but for recreational use. Very fitting for south Florida

  13. Instant power isn't a factor because regular airplanes run the engines up while still with the brakes applied. They have the same instant power when the brakes are released.

  14. Since Trump cough Elon cough gutted the FAA, I reckon their grant will disappear
No way Musk wants an electric plane to compete with SpaceX

  15. Yup, you are right to guess that Iately I skip your videos thinking it is something I have already seen and 2025 tags told me its the latest one so I clicked

  16. So I can’t bring more than a 99Wh battery on the plane for “safety” reasons but they want to make the plane one giant battery? Seems logical to me.

  17. As much as I enjoy advancements in planes for things like electric and speed, I really wish there would be more focus on advancing safety/survival.

I’ve been saying this for a long time. People are quick to throw out how much safer they are then cars which okay sure but the thing with cars is depending on the accident you can walk away whereas with planes if something happens you’re pretty much cooked. That is a terrifying thought. It would be great if we could find a way to reinvent the wheel when it came to this so that when something happens the likely outcome is everyone would be fine.
