  1. I remember visiting Cristiania in 2006. There had just been a raid, so no pot sellers were about. I bought some cakes from a bakery and the guy selling it kept telling us there was no weed in it. I think I spun him out when I said 'that's good. I don't want weed. I'm hungry and the cakes look tasty. I'm here to see the architecture and check out what a squatted city looks like.'

  2. When Organized Crime Destroyed A Cannabis Anarchist Utopia
    (Video Summary by ChatGPT 1-o)
    Time Interval: 00:0017:36

    Summary
🏙 Freetown Christiania: A Vision of Utopia: The video details the history of Freetown Christiania, an anarchist community in Copenhagen established in 1971. Originally founded on ideals of communal living and freedom from societal norms, it became known for its unique approach to governance and lifestyle.
💨 Pusher Street and the Cannabis Trade: The sale of cannabis, particularly on "Pusher Street," became central to Christiania’s identity. Initially seen as an expression of personal freedom, the open sale of cannabis eventually attracted organized crime, turning it into a battleground for control over the drug trade.
💣 Organized Crime and Biker Wars: As Christiania’s cannabis market grew, so did the involvement of notorious biker gangs like the Hells Angels. This led to violent turf wars throughout the 1980s and 1990s, culminating in several brutal gang conflicts, such as the Copenhagen Biker Wars and the Nordic Biker Wars.
🚨 Government Intervention: Over time, the Danish government’s stance shifted from tolerance to direct intervention. Increased police raids and legal pressure were introduced to curb the influence of organized crime, which had infiltrated Christiania and threatened its founding ideals.
🔄 Community Resistance: Despite the violence, the residents of Christiania remained committed to preserving their utopian vision. In 2016, following a violent incident involving a police shooting, the community took decisive action by dismantling the cannabis stalls on Pusher Street in an effort to reduce crime.
⚖ Struggle for Identity: Christiania’s ongoing conflict with organized crime raises questions about the viability of self-governance in anarchist communities. As organized crime and government pressure increased, Christiania was forced to reconsider its future as a symbol of alternative living.
    Insights Based on Numbers
50 Years of Resistance: Christiania’s survival for over 50 years highlights the strength of community resistance against both governmental authority and criminal influence.
75% Reduction in Cannabis Sales: After the community’s decision to dismantle Pusher Street in 2016, cannabis sales within Christiania dropped by approximately 75%, marking a significant shift in the neighborhood’s approach to the drug trade.
Violence in 2023: In 2023, gang violence associated with the cannabis trade, particularly involving rival gangs like Loyal to Familia and the Hells Angels, surged once again, raising serious concerns for the community’s safety.

  3. I enjoy all of your content that I've seen, and this video is no different, but I just wanna correct one thing.

Anarchists do not deal in idealism or seek to create a utopia. Im fact, its a rejection of those things that relies heavily on an evidence-based approach, science, trial and error, practice, and materialism. Our analysis and goals are firmly grounded in reality.

Unfortunately anarchism is not only widely misunderstood and, because its a threat to power and domination, its also widely lied about where we're characterized as violent wingnuts or pie-eyed children despite the vast majority of us being regular ol boring people living life the best we can that simply wanna see a free world where we can live sustainably and see our species reach its full potential 🏴

Also, from my understanding the community there isn't purely anarchist, never was and definitely isn't today even if it is a core influence. But their biggest issue, and the issue with many such experiments, is that the laws prevent them from forming actionable, viable and effective community self-defense groups to take care of problems like this without risking prison themselves. So they're left with little options. Just because a community wants to be free doesn't mean they don't want standards and rules that the members of the community make. They just wouldn't be approached the same way as laws just as community self-defense organizations differ dramatically from police. So the state leaves these communities as prey with an impossible situation on their hands. They don't want it to succeed as anything more than a tourist attraction, why would they help them actually defend themselves and live free? It would only prove that we don't need them.

  4. The bikers brought in meth, it was pretty good back then. Then it was called crank. It’s funny I was in the army and playing music all throughout Europe 85-87, and I always wondered where the bikers came from

  5. As an older guy who's been smokin herb my whole life making it the center of life is silly. Everything gets old after awhile. It's one plant. One medicine. Not the center of existence

  6. Its one of the best spots in Scandinavia and as long as you follow the necessary rules over there you will be fine, but best to know someone who loves there before going is the best preparation ❤

  7. Plz help END VACCINE ADDICTION with WHOLE PLANT botanical medicines 🙂 "Chemical free" to the best of our abilities & without punishing ourselves plz 🙂 We are Microbial; we are NOT synthetic 🙂

  8. I have always enjoyed visiting Christiania. To have an organic meal and smoke with people from all over the world. I have never been there and seen problems on Pusher Street. It is sad it has come to this. As a connoisseur of cannabis I was not to impressed with the buds there, but it was still a pleasure to be there as I could not bring buds from the USA.

  9. Hell ye brooo Christiania is a big part of the cana comunity atleast in europe shit i grew up there its just sad how it all turned out the need to fucking legalize its the only way
