32 thoughts on “Australia’s Social Media Ban

  1. Honestly 🤢🤮 when I think about how much these social media giants and big governments are changing how me and my fam live 🙌🏼 hope u get ur payday before everyone turns their shoulder on yous

  2. Like most people, I support efforts to limit social media use among under-16s, maybe up to under-18s, given the potential risks to their mental health and development. However, I don't believe the proposed social media ban will be effective. Instead, a smarter approach would be to ban smartphones for those under 16. Smartphones are the gateway to most apps, including social media platforms. By making smartphones age-restricted; similar to how we regulate access to cigarettes, knives, or alcohol, we could address the root of the problem more effectively.

This strategy could drastically reduce young people's access to harmful online content and the constant connectivity that contributes to their mental health challenges. Furthermore, parents and policymakers could promote alternative communication devices (e.g., basic phones without internet access) to maintain safety while limiting unnecessary exposure to apps and social media. It’s a straightforward and enforceable solution that tackles the problem at its core.

  3. "Australia got rid of their guns and they're doing fine."
    Meanwhile, in Australia…
We going to be collecting and utilizing biometric data from every member of the population to determine who can or cannot use social media, and we're cracking down on "misinformation". None of these things are connected though, so no worries.

  4. I can understand why the Australian Government are doing this and I have to commend them on trying to protect Children from Social media, in my opinion no Children should have access to social media as Children develop far better interacting with friends physically rather than strangers digitally. I can't understand how any parent could be content watching their Children glued to a screen rather than being outside having fun with friends, it's very sad.

The other huge issue is that the Government feels they have to step in because Parents are sadly allowing their Children unsupervised access to the internet via smart phones and God knows what kind of apps. Children know far too much these days.

My 2 Boys aged nearly 9 and 10 and a half have no access to the internet, they have old iphones and tablets but I use Apples screen time to lock it all down, the Internet browser is locked down, they have no access. No access to youtube or youtube kids because there is very unsuitable content especially on youtube and youtube kids is full of utter brain dead nonsense and woke brainwashing.

Their phones have no access to the app store and no access to Siri and can not use voice search, for the reason being they can't ask siri about a new word they learned off other Children in School.

I also have time limits set up and once the time is up they can only access messages and photos and they can only message family and friends I have approved and can't add anyone to their contacts that I haven't approved.

While it's good to see action on social media, what about porn sites ? I see no attempt from any Government anywhere to have age restrictions on porn sites ? this is very disturbing.

It is really disturbing how Parents can just give a child a smart phone, tablet, laptop etc and not care what they're consuming on the internet.

  5. Government relies heavily on propaganda to justify itself. And since the COVID experiment had a massive backlash which is still ongoing they urgently need control over the flow of information (and the ability to shut it off when it suits them). All of it stems from their existential fear that citizens realize their governments are actually NOT supported by the majority of the population (e.g. the media projecting Harris to win v.s. what really happened).

There is a wave of awakening happening in the western world, not only when it comes to corrupt governments and their policies but about the the elite classes as a whole. And they will press any panic button available to them. They have now started propagandizing another big war with Russia, and preparing their populations to "plan" for it… You should prepare yourself for more desperate attempts at power-hoarding in the near future, all under the guise of good intentions.

If you vote left, you don't get to cry when the doodie hits the fan in your own life.

  6. Everything the Albanese government has had a go at, they have stuffed up.they Why should this be any different? If parents and other family adults/friends were actively involved with their children's lives, social media could be beneficial for the under 16s.

  7. An ill conceived plan dreamt up by none SME's and without enough public scrutiny, child poverty and public housing are our societal problems. Although social media has its problems parental control is the only real way to take a balanced approach. The proposed implementation is and will be a breach of privacy for ALL Australians regardless of age.

  8. While I am in favor of reducing digital addiction for newer generations, the way this would be implemented can lead to something akin to The Great Firewall. The potential for abuse is tremendous.

  9. This video has served Meta and other social media well. Their technique is always muddy the waters to create confusion which results on no action. Tell me what action can happen, at the same time, worldwide which would improve teen suicide rates among young women in developed countries? There are numerous gaps in the argument presented. Your response to my basic question? Should you ask Meta first before responding?

  10. It's a Trojan Horse. They've been wanting to implement Digital ID for years, and now they are using our children as the excuse to push this through without so much as a debate.

  11. I only use Facebook to keep in touch with friends in America and messenger and you tube to learn music I’m happy those two as far as kids YouTube is not a chat app lots of kids learn things off of YouTube I’ve learned a lot from YouTube as well !!! I don’t watch TV OR THE NEWS but if I have to use ID all the time like I’m going to a strip club guess I’m going back to the 90,s and calling people on the phone leave a Message after the beep !!!! Or Skype

  12. We all know this has nothing to do with banning kids under 16 from using social media, it's an undercover move to introduce digital ID, and if you think this isn't true, just have a look at any of the websites or Apps that you log into, and see how suddenly you have the option to log in using digital ID. Australians, you need to stop following the smokescreen you see in the media and decide whether you want to live under a Chinese style social credit system or not. The most horrifying words in the English language are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help"
