This is what happens when people sign people they fuck with rather than who their fans would fuck with. This is why 50 went so hard once signed
you know shady records sucks when i was a eminem stan at one point in my life, but then when i got into yelawolf pre-shady, i dreaded the day yelawolf would have to put out a shady records album. i knew eminem would ruin it. then the exact same thing happened when slaughterhouse signed on. i didnt care for any other rappers shady tried to sell us, then they just ruined who i did like.
What goes up must go down. Equal and opposite reaction. Ego tries to hold onto a high regardless of the high, methamphetamine, herion, weed, alcohol, clicks, likes, and whatever the f*** else. We are programmed for addiction in order to achieve greatness or growth just like our lord saviour Jesus Christ and our heavenly farther God.
Everyone had a choice in their careers and to me if I was a rapper I would never sign with an artist that has his own career going and expect him to promote me before him because that will never happen. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
I blame the higher-ups in the music industry/the label owners who know that Eminem is where they make all their money so they play the long game. Conspiracy theory: the labels allow Eminem, 50 Cent, Dr Dre, Nelly, Outkast &Jay-Z to all create their own labels which allows them to put friends &family on payroll &let the artist be the boss/CEO. Eminem &the other superstar-artists will sign a bunch of new talent but almost every time only one of their signings actually becomes a real star. Knowing that the artist won't want their own label to fail the major label will only let 50 or Eminem's artists get but so big. Then when Em wants a bigger budget for marketing his new signings next project, the major label says "ok Em we can do that but only if you make a few appearances &agree to do a show here &there next year" these labels are running a long con on these rappers allowing them to have labels &watch as virtually all of them fail
Why do you block certain peoples comments but you don’t Block others like if somebody said something against one person they get to say what they wanna say but you block the person who responds why is that?
You do know that EZ MIL is on the New Project as well as WESTSIDE BOOGIE & GRIP
As good as Eminem is, he has one of the worth Labels by a big artist out there.
“Shady records sound less like a name and more like a description”
(The song is Rap Elvis by Benzino)
My theory is, Em is a Mega star with no weaknesses in his technique, writing ability, and delivery, and so anything put up next to him will look like trash. Also Em just cannot resist getting on a track with them which is a mistake for any artist on his label, because Em will wash them. Em should promote the people on his label by interview, not getting on a track and dusting them.
Griselda artists still doin’ they thang and they still poppin’ off to dis day
Em was recognized & empowered by the black people. Now Em tries to empower the black people.
His one of us. The nigus.
Em not business saavy at all. Never was. He was carried his whole career, so therefore how can he uplift anybody else.
Ems fans are the worst
Here's a perspective:
Shady Records needs a Drake/ Big Sean/ J. Cole / Kendrick type of artist to get that 2003 dominance back. Meaning they need somebody who can spit lyrically, but also is marketable, has a story, image, and a personality. Being lyrical isn't enough and history has proven that. You need the other things to make a real impact. You need to have beats with melody in them, write catchy melodic choruses, and rap about what people want to hear! Also everything isn't about rhymes, sometimes it's about flow and delivery! Most listeners and consumers don't want to hear you rapping them to death all the time, you need to create a vibe within the music. Now most Eminem/Shady Records fans are only listening to Eminem and not other styles of rap. But even they at some point have to embrace a different sound because only Eminem can sell doing what he does. 50 Cent, had everything except extreme lyrical talent, however he rapped well enough for people to say he's talented. 50 had image(muscles, tattoos, jewelry, nice clothes),personality(he jokes and speaks intelligently at the same time), controversy(beef with other rappers who were hot at the time)story(former drug dealer who survived being shot and started doing music) all of this made 50 very marketable and the label was able to sell that, all 50 had to do was make the right songs and release them at the right time, and he did that "Wanksta", "In Da Club", "21 Questions", "P.I.M.P", 50 Cent didn't sound like Eminem, however they made great music together so all in all the artist that have been signed to Shady after 50 Cent success never gave the label a reason to get behind them promotion wise. They thought if they signed with Eminem, and they are lyrical then people will automatically listen to them for that reason, and it doesn't work like that. Also you can't wait on the label to make your moves for you, you have to use the labels resources to stay relevant by frequently releasing music and doing video blogs and also set up other business avenues for yourself. 50 never waited on Eminem and Dre, he really capitalized on everything that came his way, he didn't wait for his label to release music, he did it himself. Never get too comfortable and rest on your laurels because it will destroy you. Also you have to collaborate and work with other relevant artists, because they can keep you hot as well. Eminem/Dre/Paul/Shady can't do the work for you, you have to do it yourself, all they can do is give you opportunity, which they don't have to give you that! So we can't blame the labels for everything sometimes the artist simply don't capitalize on opportunity.
❤ Em ! He is why I even listen to rap
Curse?
Eminem shined light (making them bigger) on
50 Cent (which also got Lloyd Banks & G-Unit as a whole bigger)
D-12
Obie Trice
Slaughterhouse
Bad Meets Evil (he helped get Royce the recognition he deserved on a more mainstream as an elite emcee with that project and he would of connected with Royce much earlier if not for beef in 2000s)
Yelawolf
Green Lantern
WSG/Conway (which also shined a light on Benny who he should of signed as well)
Westside Boogie
Grip
EZ Mil
All of those emcees became bigger names with bigger sales/fame/recognition AFTER signing to Shady even if the end result (like slaughterhouse record wasn’t something many hip hop heads wished was a better effort it still was dope to see them get light shined on them. Joe Budden was the reason they left and didn’t release Glass House!).
50 cent, Obie, D-12 had 5-8 albums total on Shady records from 2001-2009 or so that went platinum to Diamond range.
I’d say that’s pretty successful.
He was about to sign Pharoahe Monch, but sadly that fell through.
Em shining light on 50, Obie, D-12, Slaughterhouse, Griselda, Grip, Yelawolf, Boogie, EZ Mil etc a dope thing not something to hate on imo.
How many labels can say they had that much talent on it plus total sales since 1999/2000 like Shady Records? I don’t even care about sales I care about quality, but they’ve always been a “niche boutique label” who just signs talent/skill they like and try to shine a like on it.
In terms of a hip hop label by an emcee to come out in the last 25yrs Shady Records combines talent + success Better then anyone I can think of.
I def wish Slaughterhouse & Griselda ended better, but I can’t put how they ended on Em’s lap. His intentions with both were dope (but again I don’t understand why he didn’t sign Benny who imo is the illest in Griselda although Conway can make an argument as well).
I do think it wasn’t best look to not have Conway, Grip, Boogie on Em albums from 2018/2020/24. He could def do better on that these days
Dats wild
Obie saying we gotta get shot out here makes me wonder if that story of him getting shot was just fabricated to sell records.
I honestly believe the problem with shady is Paul Rosenberg he only cares about eminem cus eminem makes him rich. And eminem is only really worried about his career and legacy.
I think the problem is that initially feature, most people come to their 1st project because Em is on it and then they leave for the rest of the album, unless em is on it is a curse obie proved it,shady fans only come for shady that's it
Truth is Eminem, D 12, 50 Cent, Obie Trice, And Yelawolf were all successes all went either diamond, platinum, gold, or silver if you got to one of those you did not flop sales wise while Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater, And Cashis all failed hard yeah.
The thing is all the artist EM signed are lyrically insane… But sad to say they don't got musicality. 50 got musicality that's why he was a success.. same with wolf. EZ MIL got both musicality and pen game. Stat QOU also got musicality but EM fcked him up becase of creative difference. Ez mil still got his virgin distribution deal, they are waiting for it to be finish so he can release an album exclusively for shady and aftermath. EM should also push BOOGIE that boy also got potential. EM should put on his new signees in his new album to give them boost.
Ez Mil and West side boogie will break the curse.. They bring the new sound the new gen can relate.. while not neglecting on bars. They just need the PUSH.
More like shitty records
Weird Al Yankovic + Vanilla Ice = Eminem
It's not Eminem's fault that Slaughterhouse didn't become mainstream (Except for those two songs Fast Lane and My Life.)
The fault lies on the stans. They don't care about nobody else except Eminem.
Look at Kanye's label GOOD MUSIC. Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Travis Scott became mainstream.
The same with Lil Wayne and Young Money. Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and Jay Sean became mainstream.
I will blame Paul Rosenberg for this
boogie?
Look at dreamville, yeah some are successful and just like cole, but I dont think any of them are even close to being as successful as cole
eminem’s not really to blame, like at all! You need to make your own decisions and promote your music, it’s not eminem’s job to make the world love you enough to make you blow up, you gotta do your own thing the label is there to give you the opportunity not make you a star.
There's a lot of factors involved. Marshall when he blew up, Streaming ("The Internet") was beginning to blow up. But yeah there's some factor's like who's the guy signing, The label power at that moment, What was Em doing with his albums or songs and the guy who signed. And there's one especially, The fans man…They're the ones who decide facts.
I think it would have turned out differently in all those cases if Em' signed artists like Lil Uzi and them
Joe Budden’s Eminem rant from a few years ago is probably the best sum up of Eminem as a record label owner. He wants his artists to adopt his own sound, he signs artists to be muses. He has a long history of doing that. Obie is one of Shady Records first artists and it took him years to release a project, only after 50 Cent dropped.
Every record label has more failed artist than successful ones. Conway, Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater would have tanked on any label. Ems big mistake is not signing guys like Tech N9ne & Joyner Lucas. Rappers who look up to him. Ones that Eminem fans can get into. He signs people who don’t share his audience and would probably struggle too.
Bro Im about to unsubscribe. Drop that tik tok accent. You sound like a 15 yo girl. Such good content narate so annoyingly
