$4,000 replacement gears vs. $12,000 full transmission swap. Does more expensive mean more better?

  1. Hey! What rear driveshafts did you use?! I've been snapping my rear shafts in my 6 speed swapped WRX and those units look beefy! Custom from the driveshaft shop to go from the R180 to the WRX 5×100 hubs?

  2. CVTS has no gear. Which means no shifting. And infinite ratios like 1:9e+83.3, so more comfort without that pesky speed drops (if u hate it). So you can go on steeper mountains without having to worry. But since the CVT has an infinite ratio, your car can pull you at lightspeed back at your seat… That's why they are called continuously variable transmission! More wheel torque, more torque output. DCTs are also high torque. But can't exceed a certain amount.

  3. love seeing the donut boys getting sponsored by such good brands you know they actually like such as wd40 who doesnt love wd40 that miracle juice has saved so many of my tools

  4. at least you dont have to worry so much about fluid pressure like in an auto you cant grind things in them. Older transmission guys had to innovate here and there but im glad to see ya learned your lessons about aftermarket parts. wouldve been nice to know if the dog gears changed the gear ratio and if it shifts rougher or smoother in your opinions. I love working on transmissions, thanks for the video

  5. Should have went with a Type RA 5 speed or used PPG gear sets in the 5 speed rebuild. Grinding the gears will surely cause a problem later on down the road.
