We take a dive into the lawsuit against Laguna Seca Raceway.

Huge shoutout to @lightspeed369 for helping us make this episode possible. Also thanks to https://spacemonkeyfilms.us/ who shot some great drone footage for us. And thanks to all the track heads and neighbors we talked to along the way.

41 thoughts on “Investigating the Absurd Lawsuit Against Laguna Seca

  1. Car culture is being killed BY YOU CALIFORNIANS

Y'all voted your state into a shytehole, didn't learn from YOUR mistake, moved elsewhere, and continued your ideological path of destruction.

In my state, y'all moved right next to our only large-event drag strip (Bandimere), complained about the noise, and now they're shutting down.

Everywhere you Californians go, crime rises, taxed increase, laws bloat, businesses close, freedoms are taken, and prices of everything increase. TAKE ACCOUNTABILTY

  2. This is a weird case, because it appears that the residents are NOT behind the suit. It's someone who loves being a stupid gadfly or has desires to own the land for himself. In either case that person should need to show their actual interest in the situation in order to have a justification to sue over it. I don't get to sue about a problem that has no effect on me, nor does Mr. Picklebrain.

The noise ordinances against loud vehicles on regular roadways are reasonable. After all, people didn't move next to that noise, they are just going about their business and being imposed upon. There have been reasonable folks who have complained about changes in the imposition of an established facility after they moved in. For instance, when airplanes were getting louder, people had a legitimate gripe even if they moved in near the established airport. Notice you don't now see as many of those complaints on airports because airplanes have gotten quieter over recent decades.

  3. I was walking at the mall yesterday morning and saw donut media hoodie. As i sit here at islands in Monterey i rushed over from the gym. Watching qualifying for the 500. Guy next me asked me if it was for Laguna. Fukkk the hater trying to shut down the track and imma buy a hoodie. Keep it up

  4. Back about 20 years ago our short track closed after a subdivision was built 1/4 mile from the track and the residents complained about the Friday and Saturday night noise. The track adjusted opening and closing times so the racing wouldnt go beyond 11 PM. The problem was the mandatory opening time was too late and there was only time for about 3 hours including qualifying, heat races, trophy dash and feature. Inevitably, the feature always ended up over the time limit. The track began shutting down features in the middle of races to meet the new restrictions. Drivers stopped coming. Track closed.

  5. These people are what is wrong with America. No one can just be reasonable and mind their own business, if they have a problem with where they bought their home, move. It's like demanding an airport shut down because you bought a house by the airport. Rich people with nothing else going on want to shut down anyone else's pursuit of happiness.

  6. For a Motorhead focused YouTube channel, I keep getting surprised by your in-depth analyses of engineering, scientific, and legal issues. I’m very pleasantly surprised I found your channel. And honestly, I’m getting my “Top Gear” fix through you guys.

    Thanks a ton,

  7. Go figure a racetrack would be sued by a bunch of snobby liberal elites. That’s what you get for building a racetrack in that part of Cali. Little do these people know, if they shut down the track, that location will no longer bring in as much revenue, meaning their property values will ultimately go down.

  8. I literally work in residential construction and I absolutely hate land developers. Tearing down historic places for cookie cutter homes filled with the most uptight people ever. It truly is a sad world we live in

  9. I live in a lower income part of the area, and you can hear the track from where I live. Most people love it. There’s car shows and a bunch of awesome free stuff that happens in town that everyone can wnjoy

  10. its starting to become a huge trend that rich or wealthy people move into houses next to race tracks, drag strips,or motor tunning shops and sewing them cus there "a nascence" alot of places are being closed down and its starting to take away from the motor enthusiast life style. 83 drag strips , 58 race tracks have been closed down this year

  11. I was stationed at Ft. Ord from 87-89…we used to fly our Hueys over to Laguna to watch any action…we used to laugh our asses off making all that rotor noise to the beautiful people living in the hills around the track…

  12. My favourite track in the world I used to hate this track since this year I getting into this track in new Forza Motorsport (2023) short circuit is the new road

  13. Dumbass people tried to have our city dump shut down because they bought new houses that where built down wind if it. The dump has been in operation for over 30 years and the judge told them to pound sand.
