Lyrics:
So I cross the street
School just let out it’s busy
So I cross the street
There’s too many fucking people
So I cross the street
I don’t want to be in the way
So I cross the street
There’s less people over there
So I cross the street
I’m always taking up so much space
So I cross the street
The light just turned red
So I cross the street
The light just turned green
The light just turned green
Niggas is on the corner
I can’t cross the street
Don’t like how they’re looking at me
I can’t cross the street
What a fucked up way to think
I shouldn’t cross the street
I shouldn’t make eye contact
I’m gonna cross the street
They’re starting to follow me
Should I cross the street?
They’re starting to laugh at me
Should I cross the street?
You’re making it obvious
Don’t cross the street
They’re asking me for the time
Don’t pull out your phone
I get knocked to the ground
I should have crossed the street
New Balance and bubble jackets
Hands and feet
I see Jamie riding with Jackie
They don’t stop for me
I’m laying on 11th and Ridge
I need to cross the street
White lady walking alone at night
She crosses the street
She’s gripping her purse real tight
I have to cross the street
Now she thinks that I’m following her
I have nowhere to go
I’m scared of everyone
And everyone is scared of me
No matter which way I go it’s a one way street
It’s a one way street
It’s a one way street
I still haven’t found peace

I wonder if this was at all influenced by Patrice O'Neal. He riffed on this situation on a few occasions. Basically, feel guilty for crossing the street after the fact, but do it because logically it will make you a bit safer – white or black. "If I see 5 bald white dudes walking towards me, im not going wonder if they all came chemotherapy, im going to cross the street."
Shit that goes hard.
Bruh, this is like Kafka in musical form.
Dude this song just brought tears to my eyes like damn…
Is this Indianapolis ???
the narrative in the lyrics of this song is very interesting: the protagonist is scared and apprehensive about the guys on the street corner and he keeps thinking he should cross the street to avoid them and avoid any possible dangerous outcomes and yet he never does, and in the end it turns out his apprehensions were correct as those guys jump him. then the perspective turns around and the white lady clutching her purse sees the protagonist the same way he saw those guys earlier, but… those guys really did turn out to be dangerous, so isn't she justified in feeling that way? the protagonist felt the danger of sketchy strangers on his own flesh when they were beating him down, so isn't it fair enough for the white lady to be scared of him when getting jumped is a very real possibility of what could happen with sketchy strangers on the street? we literally just saw it happen.
Legends say he is still crossing the street till this day
On point😲
Seriously powerful
I was skating down the street and this car pulled up on me and some people got out and started chasing me.
yo this shit actually tell something (art?)
I'm getting strong knocked loose vibes on the riff. Fuckin sick😮
This song should be called "Cross the street" 😂
"It's a one way street" really brought it all together I'm loving how simplistic their lyrics seem but they hold so much meaning.
This song is annoying af
Cool 2023
WHY ARE THERE ONLY 34K VIEWS WTF
This is such a fucking profound song.
I think that the people who have gone through this situation feel the song more personal.
Tried to search santanic humilation ritual and this is the first thing that came up, an actual humilation ritual. No one in their right mind would make something this damn bad.
And all the people saying "oh this is so inspirational" the bots are strong within this video. Either bots or people who are so hopeless lost with the touch of reality.
This gives Suicidal Tendencies storytelling vibes with a sharper edge musically, absolutely zero complaints!
Growing up as a Black kid with moral integrity and non-common interests in the hood is like juggling wasps nest while you’re standing on obsidian rock.
How can a song do such a spectacular job of telling a story and be this heavy at the same time?
Loved you guys at legends. COME BACK AGAIN YOU FUCKS!! <#
My favorite band. No other band has ever kept me going or made me feel as understood as Kaonashi.
Hey, it's a song about my paranoid delusional anxiety attacks.
