5. The Hudson is clean enough to swim. The state and city spent decades cleaning it up. You can’t eat the fish unfortunately because of PCBs in the sediment. But it’s fine for swimming. It’s one of America’s biggest environmental clean up successes. The East river is dangerous for swimmers due to very strong currents.
