Where’s the body?
It is still astonishing to me how people can entrust the security of their system to founders / companies with such dubious reputation / origin.
– Let's start, obviously, with McAfee. A playboy known for his blatant drug use and whoring.
– Kaspersky an IT security company founded by Russians which can be forced to perform offensive operations.
– Fireeye was founded by a Pakistani. Are they more trustworthy than Russians?
– Bitdefender comes from Romania, ESET from Slovakia. Can we assume that they are incorruptible and uncorruptible?
I have a radical idea! How about not giving anyone a privileged backdoor into your systems? No matter from where or from whom it comes.
After all, "antivirus software" has far-reaching system privileges and must maintain a permanent, encrypted and unverifiable connection to the manufacturer's servers.
So what happened to his estate? Guy had a megayacht, was involved in tech, but didn't have any computers laying around anywhere he lived?
